- <p> DIED. Heather Farr, 28, golfer; of cancer; in Scottsdale, Arizona.
- Farr began taking golf lessons at the age of seven, and in her
- teens became one of the country's most successful amateurs.
- Turning pro in 1986 at age 20, the youngest player on the tour,
- she showed great promise, and in 1988, her best season, she
- earned more than $75,000 and was ranked 41st among U.S. women
- golfers. But the following year Farr discovered that she had
- breast cancer. Thereafter, through a series of increasingly
- difficult and painful operations, she refused to let her illness
- discourage her as she married and planned her return to the
- pro circuit; she never made it back.
